Junior Netball - Belfast League Finals

Congratulations to Grosvenor’s Minor ‘A’, Minor ‘B’ and Junior ‘A’ netball teams, each of whom represented the School with distinction in the Belfast League Finals, held at Lisburn Racquets Club on Wednesday 28th January.

Each team secured their place in the finals following a series of impressive performances in the group stages of the competition; the Minor ‘As’ defeating B.R.A., Rockport and St. Dominic’s Grammar, the Minor ‘Bs’ overcoming Ashfield Girls’, Rathmore and Hunterhouse College, as well as drawing with Wellington College, and the Junior ‘As’ beating Bloomfield Collegiate and Rathmore.

Despite commendable performances from all three teams in their respective finals they were unfortunate to each lose out on the day, with the Minor ‘A’ team finishing on the wrong side of a 19-10 scoreline against Rathmore Grammar, the Minor ‘B’ team losing 11-4 to B.R.A. and the Junior ‘As’ falling to a 16-4 reverse against M.C.B.

Despite falling at the final hurdle all three teams deserve huge recognition for reaching the final in each of their respective age categories.  In addition credit is also due to coaches Miss Helen Lavery (Junior ‘As’) and Mrs Karen Kirk (Minor ‘As’ and ‘Bs’), without whose expert coaching and guidance the teams would not have achieved so much this season.

Well done to all three teams on their achievements and hopefully they can go one better in the competition next year!
