Junior Orienteering Championships 2014

Congratulations to Grosvenor pupil Paul Pruzina who was recently selected to represent Ireland at the Junior European Orienteering Cup, held in Lommel, Belgium from 3rd – 5th October.

Paul, competing in the M18 class, took on the orienteering elite from across Europe over three days of competition which incorporated sprint, long distance and relay elements.

In addition Paul also achieved recent selection to represent Northern Ireland at the Junior Inter-Regional Orienteering Championships, held in the North West of England from 27th – 28th September.  In this event Paul claimed 13th place in the Individual race – completing 5.9 kilometres, including a 360 metre climb, in just over 71 minutes.  In the relay, meanwhile, Paul – running the last leg - covered 5.7 kilometres in 44.34 seconds to take his team from 13th place up to 9th.

Well done to Paul on his recent selections to compete against the cream of orienteering talent from across the U.K. and Europe, and we wish him the best of luck throughout the remainder of the season and beyond.
