Lord’s Taverners Wheelchair Basketball National Junior Championships 2012

Congratulations to Grosvenor pupil Devan McMordie who was selected to participate in the ‘Lord’s Taverners Wheelchair Basketball National Junior Championships 2012’ in Stoke – Mandeville during the weekend of Friday 19th to Sunday 21st October.

Form 4 pupil Devan achieved selection to the Northern Ireland Under 15 team at the event following a series of impressive performances for the Antrim-based ‘Knights’ Club, of which she is a member.

At the competition itself Devan helped Northern Ireland achieve 5th place out of 8 participating teams, defeating two sides from England and one from Wales in a hotly contested series of matches.

For Devan, participation at this competition is the latest of a number of successes in the Wheelchair Basketball Arena, including selection for the 2012 ‘UK School Games’, held at the Excel Centre in London’s Olympic Park in May, where competitors were afforded the opportunity to compete in many of the same venues as were used at the Olympic and Paralympic Games themselves.

Well done to Devan on her latest success and we wish her the best of luck in her future Wheelchair Basketball pursuits.
