Lower Sixth Biology Field Trip

In May over fifty of the School’s AS Biologists from Lower Sixth made their way to Killough Beach, County Down, where they conducted research into issues relating to Ecology and Biodiversity.

Pupils used a transect to identify zonation patterns, which link to an area of the AS Specification which focuses on the 'Distribution of Organisms due to Environmental Factors'.

The trip offered pupils an excellent opportunity to learn techniques which will prove useful to them in their AS exam and, on the whole, proved a most worthwhile experience.

Many thanks to teachers Mrs Auld, Mrs Reid, Mrs Browne and Mr Watts, whose presence on the trip made it possible for all of the pupils in attendance. We now look forward to pupils transferring their knowledge into examination success come their AS exam later in the year.
