'MacMillan' Coffee Morning Success

Congratulations to Grosvenor’s female hockey club which recently helped to raise an incredible £900 for ‘MacMillan Cancer Support’ following a hugely successful coffee morning, staged on Saturday 8th October.

The event was overseen by members of the Under 15 squad who ran the entire morning - meeting and greeting those in attendance as well as performing essential duties such as waitressing and washing up!

Many thanks to all members of the School’s hockey club, from the Under 12s to the 1st XI, as well as to many members of staff, whose kind and generous donations of cakes and buns helped to make the morning such a huge success. So too much gratitude is due to the many parents who supported the initiative so strongly on the day.

The success of the event, planned to run alongside MacMillan’s global ‘World’s’ Biggest Coffee Morning’ initiative and coordinated diligently by Grosvenor’s own Head of Girls’ P.E. Mrs Lynda McIlvenny, enabled GGS’s girls’ hockey club to make a most generous donation to MacMillan later in the month which, when added to the £200 which was also raised following a whole-school charity collection during the same week, means that the pupils of Grosvenor succeeded in raising an impressive £900 for MacMillan in total during October.

Following the event members of the Under 15 XI were proud to present a cheque for £900 to ‘MacMillan’ representative Ms. Margaret Young: well done to all staff members, pupils and parents who helped to make this year’s coffee morning such an overwhelming triumph and we look forward to reporting on many further charity initiatives from the generous pupils of Grosvenor over the coming months.
