Medallion Bowl Quarter Final Victory

Congratulations to Grosvenor’s Medallion Rugby XV which defeated Royal School Dungannon in the quarter final of the Medallion Bowl during a hard-fought encounter played on Thursday 5th February.

Despite falling 3-0 behind to a R.S.D. penalty the team quickly responded through number eight Ben Davies, whose score in the corner, following a strong run from flanker Robbie McQuade, put the team into a 5-3 lead.

Despite taking a narrow lead into half-time it was only in the second half, however, that Grosvenor, with a slight wind advantage, began to assert dominance - as their numerous strong runners began to make an impact.  Before long the floodgates began to open and second half tries from full-back Ben Stevenson, winger Nathan Chan (2) and returning flanker Jonny Little saw the team home to a convincing victory by 29 points to 8.

The game was played in an excellent spirit throughout, without standout GGS performances coming from centre Paddy McGonigle and prop James Joyce.

Well done to the entire squad, as well as coaches Mr Andrew White, Mr Ross Jackson and Mr Stuart Smyth, on their impressive victory and we now wish them the best of luck in their semi-final encounter away to Portadown College on Tuesday 10th February.
