Medallion Shield Success

Congratulations to Grosvenor’s Medallion rugby squad which secured a convincing victory over Portora Royal School in the third round of the Medallion Shield on the morning of Saturday 18th January.

Star performer on the day was centre Daniel Martin, who secured a hat-trick of tries to add to those scored also by Thomas Quinn, Ethan Kee and Ben Davison.  In addition Quinn, Conor Kernaghan and Taylor Pollock each successfully shared the kicking duties help the team to an impressive 39-0 success.

Of particular note was the team’s solid defence throughout, as well as some excellent set piece handling in difficult conditions which ensured that the team prevailed.

Well done to the entire squad of players, as well as coaches Mr Andrew Gibson, Mr Stephen Smyth, Andrew McConville and Daniel Boden, each of whose dedication throughout the season has helped the team to develop so well over recent months

The team now looks forward to a challenging encounter at home  to Coleraine Academical Institution in the fourth round of the competition on Saturday 1st February – all support is welcome as the team looks to progress to the quarter final stage of the Shield.
