Media Studies trip: BBC ‘News Day’

On Thursday 16th March Grosvenor’s Media Studies department participated in the BBC's annual ‘News Day’ when thirty pupils, along with teachers Miss Knox and Mr McDowell, were invited to the BBC Blackstaff House Studios to form part of the audience in a talk show which was aired live on the BBC and hosted by none other than Barra Best!

The day was a particularly exciting one for four of the School’s students, namely: Christian Chandler, Rebekah Baxter and Jack Lamont, all Year Eight, as well as Year Nine pupil Lois Turkington, each of whom were asked to pose questions to the programme’s panel of experts.

The trip was a tremendous success, with pupils engaging with presenters, floor managers and producers at the BBC. It was a perfect opportunity for the students to see the effort that is required to produce such a programme and it was a novelty to see just how different a television studio looks in real life, in comparison with what we see on the television.

The School would like to extend its gratitude to the BBC for providing its pupils with the opportunity to attend such a worthwhile, enlightening event.
