N.C.U. Representative Recognition '14

Congratulations to Grosvenor cricketers Stuart Nelson and Peter McCreery who have each been selected to represent the Northern Cricket Union’s Under 15 and Under 13 teams respectively this summer.

Form Four pupil Stuart achieved his selection for the N.C.U. Under 15s following a series of weekly training sessions, held at the University of Ulster Jordanstown, which saw an initial group of thirty players whittled down to eighteen and, ultimately, a final squad of thirteen.  Stuart will line up against a Southern XI, Leinster and the North West over a series of matches that will be contested in Belfast - at Stormont and Shaw’s Bridge, from 30th June – 2nd July.  What is more, Stuart’s selection is made all the more remarkable by the fact that he has also been chosen to captain the side – an incredible achievement given the amount of talent available to the N.C.U. within his age group.

For second former Peter, meanwhile, selection for the N.C.U. Under 13 squad came following four training sessions at U.U.J., followed by a further three practices at Wallace High School, which saw an initial group of forty players reduced to twenty two and then a final squad of thirteen.  Peter will represent the N.C.U. in Dublin between 2nd and 5th July, during which time he will face sides from Leinster, the North West and Munster.

Well done to both Stuart and Peter on their impressive selections, as well as coaches Mr Kyle McCallan, Mr Andrew White and Mr Jonathan Young, without whose input they would not have had the opportunity to prosper over recent years.

All at Grosvenor wish Stuart and Peter the best of luck when they take to the pitch to represent the N.C.U. next week.
