National Inter-School’s '.22’ shooting competition

Congratulations to Grosvenor pupil Melissa McDevitt, Form Five, who was recently selected to represent Northern Ireland in an upcoming National Inter-School’s ’.22’ shooting competition.

Melissa, a member of the Army Cadet Force, Peninsula Detachment, 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Regiment 'G' Company shooting team, was last year awarded a rank in the prestigious A.C.F. Top 100, a ‘.22’ shooting competition encompassing the whole of the U.K, and is currently joint 15th in this year's competition after Round One.

In addition, in October 2014 Melissa’s team qualified to shoot at the ‘National Cadet Inter-Service Skill At Arms’ (CISSAM) competition at Pirbright in England, representing Northern Ireland. CISSAM is the pinacle of the Cadet Inter-Service (Army, Sea and Air Cadets) shooting competitions held throughout the year, with approximately fifty of the top Inter-Service 4-man teams taking part.

Melissa’s recent selection to represent Northern Ireland at the forthcoming Inter-Schools’ competition is therefore the latest, and arguably most impressive, achievement in a string of shooting-related successes that she has enjoyed of late.  While Melissa is currently awaiting further information regarding the event, all at Grosvenor are extremely proud of her most recent achievement and wish her the best of luck at it.

Well done to Melissa and we look forward to following her fortunes, at this event as well as others throughout the season, closely over the coming months.
