‘National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain’

Congratulations to Grosvenor pupil Victoria Lloyd, Year Twelve, who was recently selected to perform as a member of the elite ‘National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain’ at the prestigious ‘Barbican Concert Hall’ in London.

The Band was afforded the opportunity to participate at this event alongside the London Symphony Orchestra and the London Symphony Chorus, performing a piece of music commissioned especially to commemorate the centenary of the end of World War One.

Throughout the course of the weekend Victoria had the chance to attend a number of masterclasses held by principal members of the London Symphony Orchestra, as well as a workshop providing information regarding the aforementioned piece of music which had been especially composed for the event, “All the Hills and Vales Along”.

On Sunday 4th November, meanwhile, Victoria, along with her fellow Band members,  was privileged to perform this composition as a world premier – leaving the hundreds in attendance wowed by the standard of musicianship in evidence.

The entire weekend represented an outstanding opportunity for Victoria, allowing her to learn from some of the country's finest musicians, as well as giving her a rare and special opportunity to perform at an historic and renowned venue.

We wish Victoria the best of luck in her future musical endeavors and hope to be reporting on more of her successes in the near future.
