Netball – Belfast Schools’ League Finals

Commiserations to Grosvenor’s Senior and Minor ‘B’ Netball teams, each of which suffered narrow defeats in their respective finals of the Belfast Schools’ League, held at Lisburn Racquets Club on Tuesday 17th December.

The Minor ‘B’ team, coached by Miss Helen Lavery, achieved its place in the final after topping its qualification group, which also featured Wellington College, Hazelwood Integrated College, Dominican College and Ashfield Girls’ School.  Despite such convincing qualification for the final, however, the team was unlucky to lose, by 9 scores to 7, to Bloomfield Collegiate in a close-fought final.

In the Senior age group, meanwhile, Grosvenor’s team – coached by Mrs Linda McIlvenny, secured its place in the final after sailing through its qualification group undefeated, only to fall 28-22 to Lagan College at the final hurdle.

Despite their respective defeats both the Senior and Minor ‘B’ teams should be proud of their performances throughout this year’s competition and will look to go one step further next year.

Everybody within the School looks forward to celebrating further sporting accomplishments from its male and female sports teams over the remainder of the year.
