“Order!, Order!” Mr Speaker John Bercow visits GGS

On Friday 7th June Grosvenor was delighted to welcome John Bercow MP, Speaker of the House of Commons, who took time out of his busy schedule to visit the School, delivering a talk to over one hundred pupils from across all year groups.

The visit was part of Mr Speaker’s outreach programme, visiting schools across the United Kingdom. Mr Speaker answered many questions from pupils, ranging from the difficulty in remaining politically impartial to his favourite football team.

Mr Speaker remarked positively on the excellent behaviour of Grosvenor’s pupils on  the day, as well as their high standard of questioning. His address focused on the importance of perseverance and working hard to achieve positive change in our society.

Following the question and answer session, Mr Speaker met with Miss Rainey OBE, Chair of the Board of Governors; Dr Vasey, Principal; Ruth Sellar, Head Girl; Tyler Smith, Deputy Head Boy; Senior Leadership and teachers of Government and Politics within GGS.

Many thanks to Mr Bercow for taking the time to visit Grosvenor and for proving such a captivating speaker; we hope to benefit from his engaging presence again at some time in the future.
