Poultry Showing Success!

Congratulations to talented Grosvenor pupil Joshua Kittle, Lower Sixth, who has enjoyed incredible success in the field of Poultry Showing of late.

Joshua has been competing in poultry showing events for the past five years during which time he has competed at national level at the prestigious English National, English Federation and Scottish National events, won different section awards at the Balmoral Show and achieved runner-up in the esteemed ‘Ulster Young Farmer of the Year’ competition.

At the end of December Joshua was also successful in passing his Waterfowl Judging exams – a major achievement in the field of poultry showing. As a result Ballymena Poultry Club has already indicated that it will be asking him to judge both the True Bantam and Waterfowl sections of some of their shows this year.

In addition Joshua has also been successful in gaining a voluntary placement at Cobham Trust Farm in Somerset for the coming summer. As a volunteer Joshua will have the opportunity to secure valuable experience in the general upkeep of the farm and the care of the livestock, which will support his intended University application to study Veterinary Science. He will also get the chance to learn about genetic preservation, breed conservation and gain invaluable hands-on experience whilst being mentored by Andrew Sheppy, one of the country’s leading breed conservationists.

What is more, during the forthcoming weekend of Friday 11th – Sunday 13th February Joshua will be involved with the largest Poultry Show in Ireland when he will serve as official photographer at The Ulster Poultry Federation, held in Ballymena, for which he also designed the new logo and is an active committee member.

Well done to Joshua on his sustained and incredibly wide-ranging achievements in recent times and all at Grosvenor wish him the best of luck as he continues his poultry showing exploits over the coming months and years.
