Roald Dahl Week

The week beginning Monday 10th September saw the School’s Library stage a number of events to coincide with the birthday of legendary children’s author Roald Dahl.

Dahl, born on 13th September 1916 and famous for such literary classics as ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, ‘James and the Giant Peach’, ‘The BFG’ and ‘Matilda’, to name just a few, saw his birthday commemorated with a series of events throughout the week:  pupils watched the film ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ during Junior Lunch and in After School Club and took part in a Dahl themed crossword competition at lunchtime.  In addition a collection of pupils’ imaginative Roald Dahl book cover designs, which were kindly provided by the Art Department, were also placed on display while over thirty pupils took part in a very lively Table Quiz.

Congratulations to Rachael Simpson (2S) who was victorious in the crossword competition and ‘Team Danny’; comprising Aaron Harrison (2V), Tyler Currie (2V), Michael Matchett (2V) and Danny McIlwaine (2V) who claimed first place in the table quiz.

Many thanks to Grosvenor’s Librarian Mrs Heather Eakin who organised these events so successfully throughout the week.
