Sainsbury’s 2013 School Games

Congratulations to a number of Grosvenor pupils who have been selected to represent Northern Ireland at the upcoming Sainsbury's 2013 School Games, to be held in Sheffield from Thursday 12th to Sunday 15th September.

In all some nine pupils from the School have been selected to compete in a variety of sports at this year’s event, which will be staged across eight different sporting venues throughout Sheffield.  Grosvenor’s participants comprise: Jake Wylie, Lower 6th, Samuel Gourley, Lower 6th, Tony Eve, Upper 6th and Stephen Brown, Upper 6th (all Fencing); Devan McMordie, Form 5, (Wheelchair Basketball); Nicole Caughey, Lower 6th, (Girls’ Rugby Sevens); Gareth Thompson, Lower 6th,  (Athletics – 4x100 metres relay) and Emma Ludlow, Lower 6th, (Table Tennis).

For Grosvenor this year’s competition represents the continuation of sustained representation at the event in recent times.  For five of its competitors it will be their second experience of the Games, having also gained selection in 2012, where then-pupil Chloe Lopez-Colclough was the standout performer, achieving a bronze medal as a member of the girls’ sabre Fencing team.

Well done to each of Grosvenor’s talented performers on their selection for this year’s event and we kook forward to hearing of their progress at it over the coming days.
