UK School Games 2014

Congratulations to a number of Grosvenor pupils who were recently selected to represent Northern Ireland at the highly prestigious UK School Games, held this year in Manchester.

Amongst the five competing Grosvenor pupils the most impressive result was achieved by fencer Gareth Reid, who secured a silver medal in the Men’s Foil category, while fellow fencer Samuel Gourley also made it onto the podium, achieving a bronze medal in the Men’s Epee competition.

Elsewhere Jake Wylie was selected to compete as a member of the Men’s Sabre team (Fencing) while Daniel Mayhew (Judo) and Devan McMordie (Wheelchair Basketball) also enjoyed selection for the Games.

Finally, not to be forgotten is former pupil and Fencer Stephen Brown, a member of last year’s Upper 6th, who attained a bronze in the Men’s Foil category, as well as a silver medal in the Men’s Foil team competition.

Well done to all of Grosvenor’s competitors at the event, and we wish them the best of luck in their sporting endeavors throughout the remainder of the season.
