Sainsbury’s School Games Achievements

Congratulations to a number of Grosvenor pupils who delivered medal-winning performances at the elite ‘Sainsbury’s School Games 2013’ held recently in Sheffield.

The prestigious competition, staged from Thursday 12th to Sunday 15th September and featuring over 1600 athletes from across the United Kingdom, provided an opportunity for nine of the School’s most talented sportspeople to test their ability in a range of sports against the highest standard of opposition available within their age group.

Amongst Grosvenor’s representatives particularly impressive performances were recorded by  Fencers Stephen Brown and Tony Eve (both Upper 6th), who secured silver medals in the boys’ Foil team event, Jake Wylie (Lower 6th) who achieved bronze in the team Sabre category, as well as Judo competitor Daniel Mayhew and Table Tennis player Emma Ludlow (both Lower 6th), each of whom attained bronze medals in their respective team events.

Given the extremely high standards in evidence across all sports at this year’s competition it is an outstanding feat for so many of the School’s sporting stars to have walked away with tangible recognition of their achievements.

We look forward to following the fortunes of Stephen, Tony, Jake, Daniel and Emma in their respective sports throughout the remainder of the season.
