Schools’ Proms 2012

Congratulations to Grosvenor pupils Andrew Douglas and Naomi Gray who have been selected to perform with the City of Belfast Youth Orchestra at the Last Night Concert of this year’s Schools’ Proms in London.

The COBYO’s involvement at the event came after it sent a recording into its organisers and was subsequently chosen to perform on the highly prestigious final night.

For violinist Naomi (Upper 6th) and flautist Andrew (Lower 6th), the current Northern Ireland Young Musician of the Year, the concert is the latest and most prestigious in a series of dates that they have fulfilled with the COBYO; the most recent being at a Concert for the “Happy Children” Charity, held at R.B.A.I. on Saturday 20th October.

The Last Night Concert of the Schools’ Proms will take place in the impressive surroundings of the Royal Albert Hall and will see the COBYO perform the finale of Tchaikovsky’s 4th Symphony as well as ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ by Elgar.

We wish Andrew and Naomi, as well as the rest of the COBYO, the best of luck at this event and in their future music-related endeavours.
