Scripture Union Weekend 2014

Over the weekend of Friday 27th to Sunday 29th June Grosvenor’s highly active Scripture Union made the short journey to Lorne House, Cultra, where thirty-three pupils and four teachers participated in the annual S.U. Weekend just prior to the end of term.

Activities over the course of the weekend included messy challenges, a train trip to Bangor on the Saturday afternoon and a night time game of ‘Hunt the Leader’, featuring a tree-hugging Mr Young as well as Mr Cowan - disguised as a lion in the undergrowth!

The speaker for the weekend was Andrew Kelly, a former pupil and, subsequently, hockey coach within the School, who delivered three talks around the parable of The Prodigal Son, first setting the foundations by placing the story in context before focusing on the younger and older brother respectively in his second and third talks.

Organisers for the event comprised Sixth Form Committee members Rachel Cullen, Kyle Whiteside, Tim Houston (President), Claire Todd, Johnny Gibson, Emma Larmour, Alice Greeves and Andrew Wright, each of whom did a superb job in putting together a highly entertaining and enjoyable weekends’ itinerary.

Well done to all who helped to make the weekend possible, as well as teachers  Mrs Janine Black, Mrs Jane Caulfield, Mr Alan Cowan and Mr Jonathan Young, without whose involvement the event could not have taken place.

We look forwad to following the fortunes of the School's Scripture Union during the academic year 2014-2015
