Senior Rugby and Girls’ Hockey Tour to Glasgow

In the early hours of Wednesday 22nd October the School’s senior rugby and girls’ hockey squads congregated at Grosvenor before embarking on an action-packed four day tour to Glasgow, during which they contested fixtures against The Glasgow Academy and Lomond School, as well as participating in a number of enjoyable recreational activities.

On the playing side the rugby team defeated The Glasgow Academy by 29 points to 12 on Thursday 23rd, as well as Lomond School by a convincing 55-3 on Friday 24th, while the girls’ hockey team was defeated two-nil by Glasgow Academy but enjoyed a superb 2-0 victory over Lomond.

Away from the pitches the entire School contingent enjoyed paintballing at Shotts, Meadowhead Farm as well as the opportunity to watch Edinburgh vs Lyon in ‘The European Rugby Challenge Cup’ at Murrayfield on the evening of Friday 24th.

Many thanks to teachers Mr Andrew Gibson, Mrs Charlene Hunter and Miss Lynda Henning whose attendance on the tour made it possible, as well as Mr Gary Hunter, whose careful organisation of the entire trip helped to provide the pupils with such a busy and worthwhile schedule.

We look forward to following the fortunes of both the senior rugby and hockey teams throughout remainder of the season.
