Senior Rugby and Hockey Tour to Glasgow

In the early hours of Wednesday 23rd October Grosvenor’s senior boys’ rugby and girls’ hockey squads brought the first half-term of the year to a close as they congregated at School in preparation for their annual tour to Edinburgh.

Upon arrival in Scotland each squad travelled first to The Glasgow Academy where the boys secured a narrow 15-12 win and the girls endured an unfortunate 2-0 defeat. From here the entire contingent made its way to its hotel in Edinburgh where it enjoyed some rest following a busy opening day.

Following the first set of fixtures each team made its way to North Berwick High School on the Thursday, with a highly competitive rugby encounter resulting in a 24-17 victory for Grosvenor and the girls’ hockey squad falling to a 3-0 loss.

On the evening of Thursday 24th both squads travelled into Edinburgh for a Ghost Tour while the Friday saw each squad train before heading into Princess Street for some shopping and then attending the Pro-12 rugby fixture between Edinburgh and Treviso – in fancy dress!

Following a packed itinerary over the first three days the entire contingent relaxed with some more shopping on Saturday 26th before heading to the ferry and back to Grosvenor, safe in the knowledge that a week’s half-term holiday lay ahead.

Well done to all of the pupils who conducted themselves so well throughout the tour and particular thanks to Mr Hunter, Mr McCallan, Mrs Hunter and Mrs Sneddon, without whose attendance the tour would not have been possible.
