Ski Trip 2015 to Pinzolo, Italy

On Saturday 21st February Grosvenor’s 2014 ski trip delegation returned to Belfast following an enjoyable and action-packed week of alpine activity in Pinzolo, Italy. The trip saw thirty pupils and three teachers travel to their destination where they participated in six days of skiing, each made up of two sessions of two hours each - one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. The contingent enjoyed superb weather throughout the week with the exception of Sunday, when they endured heavy snow.

Throughout the week further activities were held each evening, such as a quiz, a ‘Movie Night’ and shopping in Pinzolo itself, while the final day saw pupils afforded the opportunity to shop in the historic city of Verona during the afternoon, prior to departure from Verona airport later in the evening.

The majority of the group were beginners but by the middle of the week they were, impressively, skiing on red runs, thanks in no small part to the expert guidance of instructors Matteo, Angel, Amanda and Nicola. Awards for top skiers at the end of the week went to Jacob Pollock, Rishab Reddy and Angus Allen, while Zoe Baird, Ryan Blair and Stephanie Wallace were each recipients of ‘Best Improver’ awards.

Many thanks to teachers Mr Alan Cowan, Mr Jonathan Young and Mrs Jane Caulfield, without whose presence the trip could not have taken place, as well as Andrea, the groups rep. for the week, who looked after them throughout.

Those who caught the skiing bug on this year’s trip are already awaiting next year’s visit to U.S.A. with eager anticipation.
