Spanish Exchange – Return Leg 2014

On Friday 28th March Grosvenor’s vibrant Spanish Department welcomed twenty-nine pupils and two teachers from its exchange partner, ‘IES Pirámide High School’ in Huesca, north-east Spain, to Northern Ireland as the two Schools embarked on the second leg of their exchange partnership 2013/2014.

During their week-long trip the Spanish pupils were hosted by the families of their exchange partners and during their stay they participated in a range of activities which were scheduled throughout.

After spending Monday 31st March in School the visiting Spanish delegation were afforded the opportunity to participate in a Bus Tour of Belfast, shopping in Victoria Square as well as a visit to the Titanic Exhibition the following day,  before visiting the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum on Wednesday 2nd April.

Thursday 3rd April then saw the Spanish exchangees visit the Ulster Museum as well as ‘W5’ at the Odyssey, before spending their final evening of the trip participating in ice-skating at Dundonald Ice Bowl.

Following the departure of our Spanish visitors early on the Friday morning all  who participated in the exchange were left in agreement that the initiative, which began when thirty of Grosvenor’s pupils in Forms 2- Upper 6th, accompanied by Mrs Salt, Mr Taggart and Mr Hunter, made the journey to Huesca in late-October, had been highly worthwhile and beneficial.

Many thanks to Head of Spanish Mrs Salt whose organization of the exchange made it possible, and we look forward to maintaining the School’s link with ‘IES Pirámide’ for many years to come.
