'Stags of Talent' 2012

The evening of Tuesday 11th December saw Grosvenor stage one of the highlights of its calendar in the form of the annual Talent Show – ‘Stags of Talent’, before an audience of hundreds of enthusiastic pupils, parents and visiting guests.

As always the event proved highly popular with judges Mrs Browne, Mr Wardil and Mrs Fox spoilt for choice when deciding on the final shortlist of acts to be put forward for the final vote.

Highlights on the evening included an energetic dance routine from Lauren Moore (1V) and Corrie McCutcheon (2N), an entertaining medley from Adam McVeigh (3R) and Rhys Mayes (3E) on keyboard and drums respectively, and a passionate performance of Eminem’s ‘Lose Yourself’ by Lower 6th pupil Aaron Godfrey.

Despite the depth of talent evident, however, the judges and audience were eventually able to whittle down the performers to decide on a final ‘top three’, with third place going to Form One pupil Luke Carson for his haunting rendition of ‘The Snowman’ and first place, for the first time in Grosvenor Talent Show history, being shared between Form 5 pupil Zara Holmes, who performed Sandi Thom’s ‘I wish I were a Punk Rocker’ and Lillie Turkington (Lower 6th) who produced an equally superb rendition of Adele’s ‘Rolling in the Deep’ and Gnarls Barkley's 'Crazy'.

Well done to all of the acts who performed so well on the night, as well as comperes Andrew Pope and Peter Mulligan, hosts for the second consecutive year, who kept the show running smoothly thanks to their witty interaction and extensive collection of jokes!

Finally, well done to all the members of staff, including organiser-in-chief Mrs Salt and Miss Elwood, whose Lower 6th COPE class also helped to organise the event, whose dedication and planning helped to make the evening such a success.

A big congratulations to everybody involved and we look forward to another successful Talent Show in December 2013!
