‘Tomorrow’s Engineers’ Careers Event

On Thursday 7th November some sixteen pupils in Form Three were afforded the exciting opportunity of attending a careers event held as part of the ‘Tomorrow’s Engineers’ Week.  The event took place at Our Lady St Patrick’s College, Knock with Year Ten pupils from Our Lady and St Patrick’s, Lagan College and Grosvenor in attendance.

Dr Stephen Farry, Minister for Employment and Learning, introduced the talk, delivered by Julie Templeton of The Institution of Civil Engineers.  Steve Thomson of Schrader Electronics, as well as a member of the STEM Business sub-group, also provided closing comments.

The event highlighted the opportunities available to engineering students as well as the type of work that engineers carry out.  Those Third form pupils present thoroughly enjoyed the event and many now plan to investigate a career in engineering in more detail.
