‘Songs of Praise’ BBC Recordings from The Waterfront Hall

On the evening of Thursday 21st February Grosvenor’s Senior Choir were fortunate enough to fulfill an invitation to perform at The Waterfront Hall as part of filming for two upcoming BBC broadcasts of ‘Songs of Praise’ from Northern Ireland.

The programmes will air on St. Patrick’s Day – Sunday 17th March, as well as Sunday 15th September, and will see Grosvenor’s choristers perform along with choirs from a number of other schools in addition to the Ulster Orchestra, under the baton of Paul Leddington Wright.

Preparation for this recording involved practices on two prior evenings – Thursday 14th and Wednesday 20th February, which helped contribute to the high standard of musicianship on the night itself.

For Grosvenor this event will not be its only experience of a ‘Songs of Praise’ broadcast this year as it is also due to compete in the grand final of the UK-wide ‘Songs of Praise’ School Choir of the Year Competition 2013 in March, for broadcast in April.

All at Grosvenor wish its choir members, along with Head of Music Miss Rosemary Foster and fellow Music teacher Mr Jonathan Arnold, the best of luck for this highly prestigious competition.
