Ulster Schools' Cross Country Championships 2017

Congratulations to Grosvenor pupil Dylan McBride who performed superbly to win gold at the Ulster Schools’ Cross Country Championships, held at Mallusk Playing Fields on Wednesday 22nd February.

Dylan, who trains with Willowfield Harriers A.C., followed up his gold medal at the County Down Championships, held at Kilbroney Park earlier in the month, by again crossing the finish line in first place at the conclusion of the Minor Boys’ 2km race.

Dylan’s outstanding achievement is made all the more impressive by the fact that victory in this year’s Year Nine contest earned him his second consecutive gold medal at the Ulster Championships, having also attained gold in last year’s Mini Boys’ category.

Dylan will now contest the ‘Irish Life Health’ All Ireland Schools’ Championships, once again at Mallusk Playing Fields, on Saturday 11th March, when he will take on the cream of racing talent from across Ireland. Dylan will also be joined at this event by Year Thirteen pupil Aaron Harrison, who secured qualification for the event following his impressive 11th place finish at the Ulster Schools’ Championships in the Senior Boys’ category.

Well done to Dylan on his latest impressive achievement; all at GGS wish him the best of luck for the All Ireland School’s event on Saturday week, as well as for the remainder of the cross country and track and field seasons.
