Ulster Schools’ Individual Table Tennis Championships 2017

Congratulations to Grosvenor pupils Lucy Johnston and Lucy Craig, each of whom performed superbly to achieve gold medals at the recent 'Ulster Schools’ Individual Table Tennis Championships', held at Lisburn Racquets Club on Wednesday 5th April.

Lucy Johnston, year ten, competing in the Under 14 category, and Lucy Craig, year eleven, participating in the Under 16 age group, both performed to their full potential on the day to claim first place within their respective classifications, despite the extremely high standard of opposition present.

In addition to the success of the two Lucys, the depth of Grosvenor's table tennis strength was reflected by the fact that it had a total of eighteen pupils competing in all, each of whom play on a weekly basis after school - each Thursday - in the William Moles Hall. As part of this extracurricular activity the Table Tennis club recently ran a keenly contested knockout competition, over several weeks, which culminated in a thrilling final between Tiernan Small and Josh Tumilson, in which Tiernan prevailed by a score line of 3-0 to become the proud winner of the Nelson Cup.

Many thanks to Grosvenor teacher Mrs Peel who runs the weekly table tennis club within school and who accompanied the pupils to the Ulster Championships at the beginning of April; with her continued dedicated to this particularly successful activity we are sure that the School will be celebrating many further table tennis successes over the years to come.
