Ulster Schools’ Table Tennis Championships 2016

Congratulations to Grosvenor’s elite table tennis players Lucy Johnston, Lucy Craig and Emma Kee who were each victorious at the recent Ulster Schools’ Table Tennis Championships, held at Lisburn Racquets Club on Wednesday 13th April.

Second former Lucy Johnston prevailed as winner of the Under 12 girls’ category with Lucy Craig, form three, achieving gold in the Under 14s category and Emma, also form three, topping the podium in the Under 16s age group.

In addition James McGrath, form four, also performed superbly to achieve bronze in the Under 16 boys’ section.

The success of Grosvenor’s talented quartet comes during a season when Emma, Lucy Craig and James McGrath have also represented Ulster in the prestigious Junior British League.

In addition, Emma, James and both Lucys were also chosen to represent Ulster at the recent Interprovincial Table Tennis Championships, held in Tallaght, Dublin over the weekend of 8th-9th April. Despite the incredibly high standard of play on display, Grosvenor’s representatives once again performed with distinction, with Lucy Johnston helping the Under 13s to overall victory, Emma and Lucy Craig placing second in the Under 15 age group and James contributing to the third placed finish of the Under 16 team.

Well done to Emma, James and both Lucy’s – all members of Glenburn Table Tennis Club -  on their incredible, sustained success over the course of the current season. In addition the School also extends its gratitude to staff member Mrs Peel who accompanied all of Grosvenor’s competitors to the Ulster Schools’ event and who has run the GGS after-school table tennis club with great success over the past two years.
