Track and Field: ‘Ulster Schools Year 8 Team Competition’ Success

Congratulations to Grosvenor’s Year Eight Girls Athletics team which performed superbly to secure bronze overall at the ‘Ulster Schools Year 8 Team Competition’, held at Antrim Forum on Wednesday 13th June.

The team achieved its impressive third place finish thanks to a series of excellent performances on the day: Amelee McCullough ran superbly to finish second in the 100 metre sprint while Eva Wainwright placed third in the Long Jump and the 4 x 100 metres relay team, of Amelee, Eva, Mia Ferguson and Ellie Burgess, also transported the baton around the track efficiently to finish in third position.

In addition, further commendable performances were recorded by Olivia Maneely, who placed fifth in the High Jump, as well as the aforementioned Mia Ferguson, who finished in eighth position in the Shot.

Well done to all of Grosvenor’s girls who performed so well on the day – it truly was a collective success and the team would not have attained its overall bronze without any one of the results referred to above.

Furthermore, credit is also extended to Mrs Karen Kirk, who has coached the girls throughout the season, as well as Mrs Charlene Hunter, who accompanied the team on the day and provided valuable advice and direction throughout: hopefully last week’s success is but the first of many Track and Field–related achievements for these girls over the next seven years.
