Ulster Youth Choir workshop and auditions 2017

On Monday 18th December Grosvenor’s Music department welcomed Shane Farren, Manager of the Ulster Youth Choir, alongside Alan Leech, Tenor vocal coach with the UYC, to the school where Alan delivered an inspirational workshop to a number of Grosvenor’s most talented choristers.

Based in Dublin, Alan Leech is in huge demand as one of Ireland’s leading professional singers, while he also teaches a number of professional singers. It was an enormous privilege for the pupils to work on vocal technique with him at such an advanced level.

Five pupils auditioned on the day, either for the Ulster Youth Training Choir (age 15-18) or the Ulster Youth Choir (18-24); they will now wait with great anticipation for the outcome of these auditions, with which we wish them all the best of luck.

Many thanks to Shane Farren and Alan Leech for taking time out of their busy schedules to visit GGS, as well as the School’s own Head of Music Miss Rosemary Foster who was responsible for organising and coordinating the event.
