University of Bath Modern Languages visit

Earlier in the term Grosvenor’s German department welcomed representatives Astrid Forsyth and Dr Alim Baluch from the University of Bath to the school where they spoke to a number of our A Level German students regarding further education opportunities available at the university.

Astrid, German Convenor & Language Coordinator for German and Dr Alim Baluch, from the Department for Politics, Languages and International Studies, presented information on the different course combinations available for Modern Languages (including the various options for the year spent abroad) and also provided pupils with an insight into the many careers to which further study of German can lead.

Two Grosvenor past pupils, Jack Walker and Laura Kernaghan, are currently in their final year of the BA (Hons) Modern Languages & European Studies course at Bath University, and it is through them that the initial contact with the university was established.

Many thanks to Astrid and Alim for taking the time to visit the school, as well as Grosvenor’s Head of German Mrs Fiona Dorman who was responsible for organising the visit – hopefully it will now inspire many of the School’s current Senior School linguists to achieve of their best in order to give themselves the best possible career opportunities for the future.
