Wesley Ferris Plate - semi final success

Congratulations to Grosvenor’s Form One cricket team which reached the final of the Wesley Ferris Plate following a convincing victory over Carrickfergus Grammar School in their semi-final on the afternoon of Friday 21st June.

Having lost the toss and been put in to field Grosvenor’s bowlers performed well to restrict the visitors to 59 for the loss of 9 wickets from their allotted twenty overs.  On the Carrcikfergus side opener Loughins and middle order batsman Alderdice joint-top scored with 12 runs apiece while for Grosvenor the pick of the bowlers was captain Jordan Brown whose 4-11 proved decisive.

Chasing 60 for victory Grosvenor began nervously with Lawrie, Brown and Clarke each falling cheaply before number three batsmen Peter McCreery took control of the innings, delivering a commanding performance which saw him finish unbeaten on 41 to see his side to a comfortable seven wicket victory with ten overs to spare.

Well done to all of Grosvenor’s players on the day and we wish them the best of luck in the final of the competition which will be played some time during the final week of term.
