Year 13 AS Biology Field trip

On Monday 23rd April Grosvenor’s Year 13 Biology pupils made the excursion to Killough, Co. Down, where they participated in a field trip essential to their AS studies.

The weather managed to stay dry although it proved a little cold and windy. The pupils worked very hard, carrying out a belt transect to show the zonation of brown seaweeds on a rocky shore. In addition they then studied how limpets are adapted to exposed and sheltered conditions on the shore.

Overall the day proved extremely educational, worthwhile and enjoyable – many thanks to Grosvenor’s Head of Science Mrs Reid, who coordinated the entire event, as well as the remaining members of the department who supervised throughout.

Some of Grosvenor's Year Thirteen Biologists enjoy the trip to Killough on a cold and windy Monday 30th April!
