Congratulations to Grosvenor’s Form Two boys and girls athletics teams which competed in the overall final of the ‘Year Nine County Down District Championships’, held at the Mary Peters Track at the end of May.

Within the boys’ team, the standout performer on the day was James McMaster, who achieved gold in the shot with a distance of 9.46 metres, while Charlie McMullan was also amongst the medals, achieving silver in the 100 metres with a time of 12.7 seconds.

In the girls’ events, meanwhile, Sophie Larmour performed commendably to finish third in the 100 metres with a time of 14.0 seconds, while Megan Bell also achieved bronze, this time in the Javelin, with a furthest distance of 18.82 metres.

In the overall team events the School fared respectably, with James and Charlie’s performances contributing towards a placing of 6th in the boys’ final standings, and Megan and Sophie helping the girls’ team to 7th place.

Well done to Grosvenor’s medal winners on the day as well as the many other athletes who represented the School with pride at the event.
