Year Nine Ulster Schools' Athletics Championships

Congratulations to Grosvenor Grammar School’s Form 2 Boys’ Athletics team which achieved victory in the final of the Year Nine Ulster Schools’ Team Championships at the Antrim Forum on Wednesday 6th June.

Standout performances on the day came from Ben Dalton who was victorious in the Long Jump with a leap of 4.92 metres and Andrew Proctor, whose time of 12.4 seconds secured him first place in the 100 metres.  Ben and Andrew were supported by strong performances from Conor Kernohan in the 800 metres, Robert Braiden in the Javelin and Ross Nelson in the Shot, while the 4x100 metres relay team, comprising Ben, Conor, Andrew and Thomas Quinn was unlucky to be beaten into second place after a photo finish.

Grosvenor’s success on the day saw them defeat eight other competing schools and was their first victory in the competition since 2004.  Congratulations to all of the pupils who contributed to this superb achievement, as well as their coach Mr Andrew Gibson who has worked with the team in a dedicated fashion throughout the season.
