Overview
The PE Department ethos is to provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment in which our pupils may thrive and achieve their potential. We aim to develop a passion for physical activity through an extensive program that will encourage lifelong participation.
Aims
To develop an understanding and appreciation of the benefits of physical activity to the individual.
To ensure that the individual experiences continual opportunities for improvement; through the use of individual, pair and group tasks.
To expose our pupils to a wide variety of sports and activities.
To develop our pupils’ understanding and application of the Components of Fitness and different training methods to improve performance.
To provide adequate opportunities for pupils to fulfil their academic potential in external examinations (GCSE, GCE), thereby preparing them for Further and/or Higher Education.
Key Stage 3
The PE programme follows the National Curriculum and incorporates numerous activities and sports across Years 8 - 10.
Pupils follow the KS3 (CCEA Statutory Curriculum)
Key Stage 4
At GCSE, all pupils follow the GCSE Physical Education (CCEA Specification)
Key Stage 5
At A-level, pupils follow the GCE Sports Science and the Active Leisure Industry (CCEA Specification)
