Congratulations to Grosvenor’s 2019 Boys’ Intermediate 4 x 100 metres relay team which was recently nominated in the category of ‘Best Youth Sports Team’ at the prestigious ‘Belfast Sports Awards 2020’.

The team, comprising pupils Joseph McNaughten, Nathan Stewart, Lewis Hamilton and Adam Sykes, all now in Year 13, received its nomination following an incredible 2019 track season, during which the team secured gold at the Ulster Schools’ Track and Field Championships, setting a new Ulster record of 44.00 seconds in the process, as well as at the subsequent Irish Schools’ Championships, held in Tullamore.

Unfortunately, due to recent global events, this year’s awards ceremony, set to be held at Belfast City Hall on 20th March, has been postponed indefinitely. Nevertheless, despite this disappointment, Grosvenor’s fleet-footed quartet should take great encouragement from their initial nomination in such an elite, hard-fought category

Well done to all four boys and we wish them the best of luck when they eventually get the opportunity to continue their athletics-related endeavours at some point in the future.
