Edgar Graham Memorial Public Speaking Competition

Well done to students Chloe Johnston and Katie Skillen, each of whom competed impressively at the recent Edgar Graham Memorial Public Speaking Competition, held at Parliament Buildings, Stormont.

A total of fourteen schools and 28 speakers were involved, with topics covering a diverse range of areas including climate change and the education system in Northern Ireland. Chloe, Year 14, spoke passionately on gender equality, whilst Katie, Year 13, focused on the dangers of a cashless society. Both pupils had prepared thoroughly for the event and enjoyed the opportunity to speak in the historical Senate chamber.

The standard of speeches on the night was incredibly high and, given this, it was a fantastic achievement for Chloe to be awarded first prize at the end of the evening - a truly superb feat!

Given that Chloe had the audience enthralled throughout, it is apt that her skills were recognised at this renowned event.

Congratulations, Chloe!
