European Day of Languages

The HE and Language Departments joined forces this week to celebrate the European Day of Languages! Pupils were encouraged to take part in a ‘Bake off’ by creating some themed cakes and buns!

Congratulations to Julia (10R), the winner of our bake off - her Chocolate cake was lovely and moist with a rich chocolatey taste.  She had fabulous decorations which showcased Spain brilliantly.

Colby (10V) was runner up with his delicious  Bento box of chocolate cake and cupcakes, the smell of vanilla was intoxicating.  He had decorated them all with real skill and the cupcakes were very light in texture.

Jakub (8R) made a fabulous sponge cake with Poland themed icing. It was very impressive with the little flags adding a special focus on Poland.

Tymon (11R) decorated his lemon cupcakes beautifully with lovely fresh fruit to represent Germany.

Emily (9S) made a delicious vanilla cake with a sugar crystal geode design to fly the flag of Germany.

Noah (9V), Scott (9V) and Robbie (9E) worked as a team to create fantastic macarons in the colours of the French flag.  Mr Brunt was a big fan of this entry and Mrs Buchanan was very impressed with their cookery skills.

Freya (8R) submitted a fabulous vanilla cake which was beautifully decorated to represent the diversity of languages that are represented in the USA.

Jagoda’s (9R) fabulous cake with layers of jelly, fresh raspberries and mascarpone wobbled like something out of Wonka’s factory. A tasty and fun entry.

Issac (9V) gave us some petite Dutch pancakes with some sticky syrup. They looked and tasted lovely.

Cayden, Jack and Ben a trio of competent chefs from 9S made a perfect rainbow of a Swiss roll.  The boy’s executed a difficult bake beautifully and Mr Brunt went back for seconds!

Alina (9R) made the most delicate red, blue and white French sugar cookies that lived up to their name as a sweet crunchy treat.
