Congratulations to Grosvenor’s ever-generous pupil body which delved deep to support two highly worthwhile charities in the run-up to Christmas.

On Thursday 10th December the School held its annual Christmas Jumper Day, with pupils in all year groups encouraged to sport their most fetching, festive-themed jumpers for the day, at a cost of £1; raising an impressive £300 for ‘Simon Community NI’ - the province’s leading homeless charity - in the process.

In addition, the pre-Christmas period also saw pupils encouraged to support the East Belfast Mission by donating food items for its annual ‘Neighbours in Need’ appeal: products were brought each morning to the School’s Charity co-ordinator Mrs McClelland in the Technology and Design department, with the pupils’ generosity reflected in the fact that their donations filled three car loads when collected by staff members from the Mission itself – an incredible feat.

Commenting on these initiatives, Dr Vasey stated: “It is wonderful to see the generosity of spirit which is so prevalent in our Grosvenor community.  Thank you to everyone involved in helping such worthwhile causes, particularly given the current circumstances.  It shows our resilience and our real sense of care for others”.

Huge credit to Grosvenor’s charitable pupils, whose selfless contributions will have helped to make such a difference to so many of those less fortunate over the festive season.
