Table Tennis – Triple Medal Success

Congratulations to table tennis player Ben Watson, Year 14, who performed superbly to achieve success at the recent Munster Open 2024.

Held earlier in the month, Ben competed impressively to secure gold in the Under 19, as well as bronze in the Under 21 and Open Men’s categories.

Victory in the Under 19 age group, where Ben was seeded 4, came following an impressive 3-1 win over Leinster’s Vincent Ni in the final. What is more, it marked the second consecutive year in which Ben had secured gold in this event.

In addition, Ben performed impressively in both the Under 21 and Open Men’s events. In the latter category, in particular, Ben exited the tournament only after a courageous defeat against Irish number 1 international, Tom Davis, in the semi-final.

The tournament, which saw Ben undertake a lengthy journey to Bishopstown, Cork, was great preparation as he now looks forward to representing Ulster at the North Ayrshire Open later in the month
