Congratulations to Grosvenor pupils Nadia Kukie and Katie Reid (both Year 9), Liberty Molloy (Year 10) and Megan Ashfield (Year 11), whose respective pieces of creative writing were recently selected for publication in a pair of anthologies published by the renowned Young Writers’ organisation, entitled ‘SOS Sagas: Missing – UK Tales’ and ‘Through Their Eyes’ respectively.

Nadia, Katie and Liberty, each of whom engaged in the programme as members of Grosvenor’s Creative Writing Club, were invited to enter their prose submissions, of no more than one hundred words, in February of this year: Katie’s engaging piece centres around a pair of lucky socks that go missing, Nadia’s describes the trauma of a central character who has been left deserted, while Liberty’s describes the aftermath of a sister who goes “missing in action”.

In Megan’s case, meanwhile, her poem, entitled ‘Indiscernible’; a moving, powerful piece that sees a ship’s inhabitant describe their experience of a violent storm, secured a spot in the ‘Through Their Eyes’ anthology, which selected the best works of young poets from across the U.K.

In the case of ‘SOS Sagas: Missing – UK Tales’, Grosvenor was one of just two schools from Northern Ireland to be represented, while Megan was the only Northern Irish pupil to feature in ‘Through Their Eyes’ - an incredible achievement.

The School has now been furnished with a complimentary copy of both anthologies, meaning that all pupils will have the opportunity to read the impressive works of Nadia, Katie, Liberty and Megan, which they could not fail to be impressed by.

Well done to Grosvenor’s highly qualified quartet of talented writers – we look forward to, hopefully, seeing their work in print again in the near future.
