75th Anniversary Celebrations: Service of Thanksgiving
On Sunday 9th February Grosvenor Grammar School continued its 75th Anniversary celebrations with a Service of Thanksgiving held at Bloomfield Presbyterian Church. The School was delighted to welcome Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of the Borough of Belfast, Mrs Fionnuala Jay-O’Boyle CBE, along with many current and former associates of the School.
The event began with a welcome from the Very Reverend Dr Frank Sellar, Minister of Bloomfield Presbyterian, followed by an introduction and Call to Worship from the School’s Principal, Dr Frances Vasey. The Service featured prayers, scripture readings, hymns and enriching contributions from the School’s Chamber and Senior Choirs, before it was concluded with a thoughtful and considered Address from Miss Rosemary Rainey OBE, Chairperson of the Board of Governors.
Sunday’s Service of Thanksgiving was the second of four special events that have been planned by the School to mark its 75th anniversary – Belfast City Hall was illuminated in Grosvenor colours in January, while its annual Spring Concert is this year due to be held in the Ulster Hall on Wednesday, 18 March, before the celebrations are rounded off with what promises to be a spectacular Gala Dinner, held in Parliament Buildings, Stormont, on Friday, 24 April.
Further information regarding both the upcoming Spring Concert and Gala Dinner can be found on the School’s website (www.grosvenorgrammarschool.org.uk) and twitter feed (@GrosvenorGS), with tickets available to purchase from the Ulster Hall Box Office and Grosvenor Grammar School reception respectively.
