‘Action Mental Health’ workshops

Many thanks to Hugh Roarty, from ‘Action Mental Health’, who spent three weeks during May and June delivering a series of highly worthwhile workshops to all pupils in Years 8 – 10, 11 and 13.

Each pupil in years 8 – 10 was given the opportunity to attend a workshop entitled ‘Provoking Thought’ which focused on, amongst other things, the importance of looking after one’s mental health and emotional wellbeing, developing confidence to seek help, raising awareness of signs and symptoms of mental distress and challenging the stigmas and misconceptions about mental health.

Pupils in Years 11 and 13, meanwhile, attended two ‘Mindset’ sessions, funded by the PHA (Public Health Agency), which were designed to raise awareness about and increase knowledge and understanding of Mental and Emotional Health and Wellbeing whilst promoting self-help/resilience techniques.

Many thanks to Hugh for his excellent effort and skill in delivering these sessions to over 800 of our pupils: they have formed a valuable part of the whole-school response in meeting the emotional and wellbeing needs of our pupils following the recent period of national lockdown.
