Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony 2022
On Wednesday 5th October 2022 the Grosvenor community of pupils, staff, parents, Governors and invited guests, including Guest Speaker Mr. Mark Baker – Chief Executive of the Controlled Secondary Schools’ Council (CSSC) - congregated at the nearby Orangefield Presbyterian Church to celebrate another year of all-round achievement at its annual Prize Distribution Ceremony.
Following speeches from Chairperson of the Board of Governors Miss Rosemary Rainey OBE and Principal Dr. Frances Vasey - delivering her sixth Principal’s Report; memorable performances from the Chamber Choir - of ‘Jubilate Deo’, with music by Peter Engelea, and a medley from ‘Les Misérables’, with music by Claude-Michel Schonberg and arranged by Ed Lojeski - not to mention the distribution of prizes itself, the ceremony concluded with a short speech from Guest Speaker Mr. Baker which succeeded in engaging all in attendance; providing the perfect conclusion to an enjoyable afternoon of recognition and celebration.
The academic year 2021-2022 was one of great challenge in Grosvenor, as its curricular and extracurricular life slowly returned to normal following two years of interruption due to the pandemic. Nevertheless, it is to the credit of its pupils and staff members that the same twelve month period saw huge attainment within the School, with pupils attaining ‘best ever’ results in many categories following the publication of public examination results in August, and extracurricular highlights coming in the form of victory for both the Under 15 Boys’ and Girls’ teams at the Irish Secondary Schools’ Table Tennis Championships, held in April, as well as for the Under 16 Boys’ Football Team in the final of the Belfast Cup, in March.
Well done to everybody at Grosvenor on its incredible success over a busy and eventful past twelve months - all within the School are already looking forward to another full, uninterrupted programme over the coming year, and, to this end, to celebrating further pupil achievements come September 2023.
