Ben Watson – County Umpire Certificate and Level 1 Coaching qualification

Congratulations to Ben Watson, Year 12, who was recently successful in gaining both his County Umpire Certificate and Level 1 Coaching qualification, awarded by Table Tennis Ireland. 

On route to these qualifications, after weeks of theory examinations, practical assessments and completing log books, Ben successfully completed his ‘Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport’, ‘Basic Sports First Aid’ and ‘Emergency First Aid at Work’ Training.

The attainment of these qualifications concludes a highly successful table tennis season for Ben, during which he secured gold medals at both the Ulster and Irish Schools’ Championships, as well as at the Under 21 Interprovincial Series, held in Dublin in April. Ben will now travel to Denmark, with three Ulster teammates, in July, for an intensive four day training camp which will incorporate fitness and mental training in preparation for next season.
