Grosvenor’s Under 18 football team, which achieved victory over Edmund Rice College on Wednesday 4th March to reach the semi-final of the Belfast Cup.

Congratulations to Grosvenor’s Under 16 and Under 18 football teams, each of whom secured victory in their respective matches, held on the afternoon of Wednesday 4th March, to claim their semi-final places in the prestigious Belfast Cup.

The Under 18 team, having finished top of a qualifying group that included Boys’ Model, De la Salle College and Trinity College, overcame Edmund Rice College in their quarter-final encounter, achieving a narrow victory, on penalties, after the scores were level at the end of extra time.

The Under 16 team, meanwhile, secured its semi-final berth after squeezing past ‘Our Lady and St. Patrick’s College, Knock’, winning 8-7 on penalties after the scores were locked at 2-2 following extra-time.

The Under 16 team will now take on De La Salle College in its semi-final next week, while the Under 18 team will play against St. Malachy’s College towards the end of the month. Both teams should be commended for the fantastic effort they have shown during tense games, for the commitment they have shown to each other by working together, and for the pride they have shown in representing the school every time they put on the jersey.

All at GGS wish the boys the best of luck for their semi-final encounters.
