Congratulations to Grosvenor pupil Holly McDowell, Year Thirteen, who was recently selected onto the prestigious Ulster Under 18 Hockey squad as goalkeeper.

Holly, who plays her club hockey for C.I.Y.M.S., made the first step towards Under 18 selection when she was nominated by club officials to participate in the Ulster Under 17 squad last September. As part of her involvement within this squad, Holly participated in eight weeks of training, followed by a two day boot camp in early January - both held in Jordanstown - before attending a further six week block of training. At each of these stages in the process, the number of goalkeepers involved in the squad was whittled down, from an initial total of twelve to, eventually, just one – Holly; highlighting just what an impressive achievement this is.

As a result of her success, Holly will now train with the Under 18 squad over the coming months in preparation for, hopefully, involvement in the Interprovincials 2020, which are due to take place in May and June.

Well done to Holly on her impressive achievement and we look forward to following her progress with the Under 18 squad over the coming months.
